News
Below are a small amount of recent editorial articles regarding the ever increasing energy bill we are all facing in Australia. This shows that Australia electricity prices are increasing very quickly and we need to do something about it before its too late.
The Daily Telegraph, 7th April 2010 – Power to the people – begging not to freeze to death
“After already being hit with a 20 per cent price rise last year, NSW residents will on July 1 pay the first instalment of what will be a more than 64 per cent rise over the next three years. The increases will add hundreds of dollars to the average three-monthly bill, money many families simply cannot afford.”
Today Tonight, 8th April 2010 – Saving on power bills
“Australia’s most expensive power is in Victoria. Over the past few years we have seen double-digit increases in the price of electricity it is anticipated that will continue over the next five years. In New South Wales it is estimated the price of electricity will double in the next five years. In Queensland, price increases will hit the state within the next year or two.
There are two things Australian consumers can do. One is make sure you are on the cheapest electricity and gas plan in your area and the second thing you can do is just control you own consumption.”
The Australian, 14th April 2010 – Energy prices to triple, says Origin chief
“ELECTRICITY prices across Australia were likely to triple over the next 10 years, Origin Energy chief executive Grant King warned yesterday.
Mr King said the latest news that electricity prices in NSW would be rising by about 64 per cent over the next three years was symptomatic of the changes ahead across the country.”
